LADBS “Standard Plan Program” Makes It Easy to Get Plans for a Guest House

California is trying to combat the lack of housing in new and creative ways - and encouraging the building of ADUs (accessory dwelling units, guest house, nanny flat) on residential lots is hot right now! 🔥

ADUs can provide so much value to a homeowner - these guest houses are being rented out anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 (or more) per month, but they really need to be done correctly! The city is littered with eyesore ADUs that were built without plans and without permits and fixing issues like that can cost a potential buyer more money than starting from scratch. 🛠

Now Los Angeles Dept of Building and Safety has teamed up with architects and engineers to provide pre-approved ADU plans for homeowners to purchase.
